Grand Children!

I really miss my granddaughter Erin and new grandson Everett! Thank goodness for Skype and other modes of technology!

My daughter Meredith (mother of Erin and Everett) shared an awesome story with me the other evening on the phone. I hope I can retell it effectively...it has stuck with me for days now. A couple of evenings ago inside their home Erin had her little umbrella open over Everett and was "shading" him. At a given moment, Everett (2 months old) smiled at Erin. His smile took Erin completely by surprise and touched her heart so much she began to cry joyfully! I wasn't there to witness the event but I can "see" it all in my mind. It brought great joy to me and like Erin I cried with joy!

I love my children and my grandchildren! God has blessed me grandly!

The Chronicles of Colorado

Hi Everyone

Rob and I have arrived in Boulder, CO and are having a wonderful time! Yesterday Rob surprised me with a Flip Video camcorder. It's easy to use but I'm not the best videographer! I'm experiencing problems uploading the videos to this blog but here are some photos. :-)

Today we walked around the Pearl Street District downtown Boulder. Besides the many shops and restaurants, there were several street performers. This one in particular amazed us with his skill of juggling fire while riding a unicycle!

We also drove up Canyon Blvd and saw some gorgeous scenery....

This photo does not give justice to the actual scenery. The mountains are amazingly beautiful and magnificent.

Tomorrow we plan to visit the campus of The University of Colorado. We'll see Chris Isaak in concert tomorrow evening at the Chautauqua Auditorium. The concert is one of many presented by the Colorado Music Festival & Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts.

More tomorrow......

Joy Comes In the Morning

Just returned home from Glendale, Arizona and my first visit with my new grandson Everett! I had a wonderful time with the Bailey family. What a fun-filled 5 days! Saw a fabulous fireworks show on the 4th, we had a great visit from Susie and Jay Talbot from Casa Grande with great steaks prepared by son-in-law Matt, Erin and I played Barbie dolls and most of all just being with Meredith and Everett!
Proud Mom and Sister

And here he is! Baby Boy Everett!

Even though Everett was born in the late afternoon of June 24th, I think this scripture is a wonderful reminder of God's blessings.

Joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5

What's on your wall?

A couple of years ago my sister Janice generously gave Rob and me a movie projector she had bought but was no longer using for her classroom. We were thrilled since we prefer to watch movies at home rather than at a movie theatre. Eventually the projector bit the dust and we bought a new projector. We don't have a screen... instead we watch movies on our family room wall!
I'm sure every interior designer who might happen to come across this blog/photo will scream at my poor decorating taste! :-) In fact, the buffet you see holds our DVD collection and not the usually dining paraphenalia. However, Rob and I along with other family members love this arrangement and especially our fun times together.

Last night, Mallory, Rob and I watched "School of Rock" with Jack Black. Tonight after steaks on the grill, we'll pop our popcorn and watch "Star Trek"... or maybe "Iron Man"...or maybe "The Bourne Ultimatum". What's on your wall?

The first blog posting is the toughest...

Are you familiar with the song "The First Cut is the Deepest" written and performed by Cat Stevens...and also performed by Rod Stewart and Sheryl Crow (no relation...however, that would be cool)? Well, the first blog posting is the toughest! I'm not quite sure what to "blog" about in my first blog but I do realize it won't matter by the second one! :-)

I'll credit my daughter Mallory for naming my blog. Here's the story behind the blog name. Last night I sat on our deck

with my new Red Dell Studio laptop (thanks to my wonderful hubby Rob for a great birthday present). After setting up the blog, I sat for an hour trying to decide on a name! Mallory was online and I gchatted asking her what in the world to name my blog. She immediately (understatement) fired back with "name it Because I Said So".

Obviously she's familiar enough with that phrase (used by me more than I'm aware)...hmmmmm. Oh well, I love the title and so it is!
